Client Care Specialist, Research & Development

Toronto, ON, Canada

I am a researcher and Client Care Specialist at Striving for Synergy. I am currently a student at Queen’s University, on track to obtain a Honours Bachelor of Science degree in spring 2024.

I’m a biopsychology specialization student, which has provided me with a unique interdisciplinary perspective to approach the field of neuroscience. I have always been fascinated by the human brain due to its remarkably vast set of capabilities and allusive neurodegenerative disorders. Though the further I’ve progressed in my studies the more I grew passionate about its role in mental health disorders. I finished my 3rd year of undergrad with an interest in the counselling and therapy branch of clinical psychology. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to closely work alongside and shadow Melissa at this practice and learn about the relation between the brain and trauma. I’ve watched in awe as Melissa and her colleagues provide patients with the knowledge, guidance, and support necessary to understand, cope, and heal from various challenges, illnesses, and traumas. Always aiming to help patients identify the unhealthy habits their brains have established in order to push through the hardships they’ve faced. Doing so with the intent for patients to one day become self-sufficient in coping with obstacles they face in the future.

In addition to the clinical exposure I’ve gained, I’ve been working on a research project surrounding Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). The goal of the project is to showcase the efficacy of EMDR using biometrics as well as to improve its efficacy and accessibility.

I am now aspiring to receive a Master of Arts in Counselling and Clinical Psychology. With the intention to contribute to the scientific community’s understanding of the connection between the brain and trauma, as well as become a therapist myself.

expert team.
